The unconvincing case to disband the Minneapolis Police Department

And hundreds of citizens who have testified during recent hearings said they did not want to see the MPD eliminated, especially in light of increased levels of crime in Minneapolis. They rightly believe that a city with more than 400,000 residents needs a law enforcement agency that is directly accountable to a mayor who is elected citywide.

The move to disband the police department is only half-baked if that. The germ of the idea is probably sound, but the cost is utterly unknown. It needs more detail for it to proceed. It needs to gain the support of most of the MPD, which means there has to be a long learning curve. Unfortunately, activists are impatient by definition.
