The layoffs at Microsoft amount to less than 5 percent of its workforce. Some of the affected workers will be notified as soon as Wednesday, the company said.
I suspect that most of these are not hard tech jobs, programmers etc, but rather customer service and sales jobs. Those are more volatile with demand.
