Five out-of-state board members of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas — the entity that maintains and operates much of the state’s electricity grid — will resign Wednesday, according to a notice filed with the Public Utility Commission of Texas.

Several things here:

  1. There were out-of-state members. I wonder what their expertise was or if they were just big campaign donors.

  2. Interesting that they resigned just before testifying to lawmakers who are obviously looking for a scapegoat for their bad decisions over the years.

  3. I wonder if this is a move to try to avoid civil penalties in Texas.
